Ochsenfurt is a town of 11.600 inhabitants on the left bank of the River Main, here crossed by a stone bridge (the bridge where the Via Romea crosses the Main) South of Wurzburg. The place-name is an equivalent of the English Oxford, where oxen used to cross the shallow waters of this river. In Ochsenfurth there is a busy trade in agricultural products, as well as of beer and malt. There is also one of the largest sugar factories. Tradition has it that this is where King Richard Lionheart of England was arrested in 1193 while returning from the Third Crusade.
A short stage with an uphill road to begin with, then cross a route with gentle hills until the end of stage, through an agricultural land, going through only two small villages. We leave from the Municipal Square, following the Hauptstrasse, and then we turn left on the Sterngasse which takes us to the railway which we cross and get out of the town along the kinge. We follow this road for over 1,9 km where we come up against a three road junction; we keep to the right and follow this road for 900 m; we find a paved road which we follow on the right for 700 m, then leave it turning left to enter the small village of Hopferstadt which we cross along forest the Dorfstrasse, then the Duttenhoferstrasse which takes us to the open country. We resume our progress across the fields, due south, parallel to the St2269 which runs 350 m on our right; we cross the Torrent Thierbach, and in 4 km we arrive at Oellingen, another small village, part of Gelchsheim. We enter the village along the Gulchsheimer Strasse, we turn left on the Ochsenfurterstrasse, then again to the left and we are in the centre of the village; continuing along the Dorfstrasse, we arrive on the Hemmersheimerstrasse, we turn left and are out of the village. A further 2 km, across the fields, free from the traffic, in the midst of extensive cultivations that change with the passing of the seasons and we arrive to the right bank of the River Gollach which we follow on our right up to Aub. We enter the town along the Jiulius-Echter-Strasse, we turn left on the Gulchsheimerweg, we follow the Ochsenfurterstrasse for 300 m, turning again to the left on the Hauptstrasse and we will be in Kirchplatz, or the centre of Aub.
