24 – (GER 24) – Bergtheim – Wurzburg

Bergtheim – a small municipality of 3500 inhabitants, but a very ancient one, situated within a broad plain, 7 km from the River Main, based on an agricultural economy. This stage will prove easy, mainly flat, through the fields and many small farming villages.
Leaving from the building of the conference of municipalities, we turn left on the Hirchgasse, and then right on the Rathausgasse and turning again left we will be in the Gartenweg. We turn right and arrive on the Nelkenweg which we follow on the left; we cross the Oberpleichfelderstrasse, we continue on the Hellerstocksweg and we leave the town. We are now walking across a well-tended countryside, with square fields bordered by neat straight long lanes, we have frequent changes of direction, in 4,2 km we arrive at the outskirts of Unterpleichfeld, a small municipality which we barely skirt; continuing our walk we cross the Oberpleichfelderstrasse and walk the whole length of a straight road for 1,8 km across the fields. We arrive at the St2260, which by turning right we follow along its side for 1,7 km, until we find an under passage which takes us across it. We pass over the crossroad which we find after 100 m, we continue for 400 m and arrive at Kurnach, a municipality of over 4.000 inhabitants, which we cross in a short time by turning first right on the  Pleichfelderstrasse, then left on the Rosenweg, again left on the Wurzburgerstrasse, again right on the Krauterwiesse; 400 m and we turn right on the Afterweg. We are back in the open country; 700 m straight on and we reach the underpass of the Motorway 7, on the other side we carry on a field lane which in 1,4 km will take us on the bank of the torrent Kurnach and to the crossroad with the Ostring which we cross, we turn right then left, and again along the torrent which we cross after 300 m; we turn left and in 150 m we are on the Am Eichelein: we are in Estenfeld, another municipality for about 4.000 inhabitants. We enter the town on Am Eichelein, then right on the Muhlgasse, again on the Backerstrasse, left on the Untere-Ritterstrasse, after 200 m, on the right on the Lengfelderstrasse which we follow for 500 m, we pass over a roundabout and we turn right In Kurnachgrund, up to the crossing of the torrent Kurnach. We turn right and follow the direction of the water for 1,5 km, up to the first houses of Lengfeld, a suburb by the gates of Wuerzburg, our goal. We arrive on the Rittelstillstrasse and turn right on the Riedstrasse; we cross the Geor-Engel-Strasse and continue on the Herrnhofstrasse, and along the Am Schlossgarten on the left, which we follow for over 1 km even when it becomes Am Muhlemham and then Steibruchweg after turning left; now turning right on the Lioba Strasse, we cross the ring road and continue on the Pilziggrunstrasse, which by turning right will take us on the Werner -von-Siemens Strasse; we turn left, 200 m and cross road 8 where turning left we reach the Numbergerstrasse. This we follow for over 2 km. We overcome the motorway junction roads and again turn left, we cross the railway and walk along the 8 up to a giant roundabout of which we take the third exit, the Ludwigstrasse: 500 m and turn left on the Theaterstrasse and we will be in the city centre, the Residenzplatz
