INTEGRAL WILDLIFE RESERVE OF SASSO FRATINO UNESCO HERITAGE

With great satisfaction, we hear that today, July 7th, 2017, the Integral Reserve of Sasso Fratino, within the National Park of Foreste Casentinesi, Mount Falterona and Campigna is a new UNESCO NATURAL HERITAGE. An especially heritage between Romagna and Tuscany, since 1958 it is INTEGRAL RESERVE and no one can access it except for study and under the control of the former Corpo Forestale dello Stato (State Forestry Police). The National Park is very much appreciated for its forests (ancient property of the Grand Duke of Tuscany and of the Camaldolese Friars), for its flora and fauna, for its geological and geomorphological system. The needs of local populations with those of conservation of the environment were admirably combined. It is an asset of the political and administrative leadership of the Park and the Communes, as well as of the staff who work with passion and expertise. The National Park is the Ordinary Member of the VIA ROMA GERMANICA, which crosses it from Bagno di Romagna to Chiusi della Verna and Bibbiena.
